Staci Packer, President opened by welcoming everyone and thanking all who came. Next Board Members introduced themselves by name and position held.
Moved on to changes made by the School District regarding "Healthy Heart, Healthy Start". This means for the PTSO that no food can be sold at school (ice cream parties, school kine cookies, to name a couple). Question was asked by parent if selling fruit or veggies was an option. PTSO is looking into that option.
Ursula Pratt continued meeting by announcing Membership Drive results. PTSO currently has 76 members and 44 parent volunteers.
Teddi Thorpe mentioned needing help with the Walk-A-Thon on September 25th. Also needing volunteers to help in raking dirt and planting grass seed at the new playground on Thursday September 3rd, around 8:30am.
Frank went over proposed budget and it was shown to everyone over the projector. Currently in PTSO account is $1,871. Currently expected expenses budgeted for the year is about $19,535. PTSO has received $252 in donations and $345 in Membership dues.
Kim Blair-VP Fundraising and Cat Keith-VP Activities presented the Walk-A-Thon power point presentation at general meeting tonight. This is also the same power point shown to student body during Friday September 28th assembly. 100% of funds raised for the Walk-A-Thon stay with the school. Goal is between $11,000-$12,000. PTSO is optimistic that we can raise more than goal. During Walk-A-Thon, there will be music, water stations, and the HPU Cheerleaders will be attending to cheer on our students! Prizes range from no homework day, fruit rolls up, t-shirt all the way to Nintendo DS and IPODs.
Kim Blair-VP Fundraising continued talking about fundraisers and gave details on McTeacher night coming up on October 15th. Volunteers and teachers who participate will work behind the counters and in the drive-thru. PTSO and teachers have the ability to keep up to 20% of TOTAL SALES done by McDonalds (Moanaloa shopping center location) between the hours of 4pm-7pm. PTSO and teachers who volunteer their time during this activity will split, 50/50 funds raised.
Quickly mentioned was Subway lunch/dinner day. Kim will talk to Subway Manager to see if we can extend Subway fundraiser "night" to also include lunch, so that PHES staff can participate and show support by buying lunch that day from subway if they choose.
